According to reports, a Togan noble and a previous member of the Tongan parliament, Lord Fusitu’a, shared a post on Twitter, while also sharing his recommendations on “how Fiji can do Bitcoin legal tender like Tonga,” and there could be two “Legal Tender Bills for the Pacific in 2023.”

Fusitu’a stated, “Like Tonga, how to do nationalized Bitcoin mining, specifically how we were going to do geothermal volcano mining so they could both do the same but also make use of their massive hydro and other renewable stranded energy they have, which we don’t.”

The newly elected prime minister will be taking responsibility for climate change, public service forign affairs, information, environment, and public enterprises and will lead a cabinet of nineteen ministers and ten deputy ministers.

Accepting Bitcoin as legal tender and Tonga’s timeline relating Bitcoin’s introduction will be passed in February 2023. For Fiji, Tonga’s geographical location and history causes economical and developmental challenges. Keeping in mind the Fiji geographical and economical factors, accepting Bitcoin as legal tender may help in country’s geographical and economic factors.
