EL Salvador to educate young citizens on Bitcoin
Even in the worst of crypto winters, EL Salvador is now focusing on educating people, especially students, on the use of Bitcoins. In a video shared by BitcoinClip on Twitter, students are taught in a classroom about Bitcoin and how to make Bitcoin transactions.
The country is the first in the world to adopt Bitcoin as a legal tender. However, since the experiment was initiated to use it as legal tender, the use of Bitcoin has been low as it has lost about 60% of its value.
Despite the current spiraling down of the use of the currency, the country understands the future of Bitcoin. It concentrates on educating pupils at an early age so that the mass adoption of it can be accelerated.
The video went viral, in which an EL Salvadorian teacher was seen educating students about the use of Bitcoins on their mobile phones as part of a ten-week curriculum. The video also depicts the instructor demonstrating how to receive Bitcoin via the Lightning network. Moreover, the lady teacher also explains other topics, such as nodes, double-spending, and Bitcoin halvings. The educator says, “The idea is that this will be replicated in other schools around the world.”
The country has taken the initiative to educate young minds early on so they are well-equipped to use the currency as an adult. The name of the initiated project is “My First Bitcoin,” the project’s objective is to “lead by example. To show rather than tell. To make the intangible a reality.” It targets to reach a larger number of people by a factor of 25 and to educate 250,000 students.
In November 2021, president Nayib Bukele announced that they are working towards building an income and property-tax-free Bitcoin city.
A special Bitcoin has also been launched by the president to manage bitcoin-related projects. The country is building everything in its capacity to accelerate the mass adoption of Bitcoin.
